How to cancel an order on Glovo

This article explains everything you need to know about cancelling orders on the Glovo app.

Cancelling an order on the Glovo app is simple but it has to be done before a courier is assigned to the order. Glovo orders work in the sense that when a customer place an order through a vendor in the Glovo app, the order will prepare the order and a Glovo rider collect the item and deliver them to the customer.

However, status of each of these processes are updated in the Glovo app, e.g., accepted, prepared, courier assigned, and delivered. It's also worth noting that these statues determine the available actions, such as cancellation and refunds, that can be triggered in the multicategory on-demand delivery app.

So, your order can be cancelled if no courier has been assigned to do the logistics. In fact, it can still also be cancelled if the status shows "courier assigned" but cancellation fees may apply in this situation.

If the courier has already picked up your order or arrived at your location, you may still be responsible for part or all of the cost, including any delivery charges. For non-food purchases, you can speak directly with the driver to check whether returning the item is an option, as a refund for the product itself might be available if it is successfully sent back.

According to Glovo policy, refunds are handled case-by-case based on order status and service type. Food orders are generally non-returnable and refund eligibility is limited by the preparation and delivery status. Here's the full list of the Glovo cancellation and refund policies:

  • You can cancel an order, but you may have to pay a cancellation fee.

Food orders:

  • If the restaurant has accepted your order and started preparing it, you will need to pay for the food.
  • If a courier has already been assigned, you will need to pay a cancellation fee.
  • If the restaurant has started preparing the food and a courier has been assigned, you will need to pay for the food plus a cancellation fee.
  • If the courier has reached your area and completed the delivery process, you will need to pay for the food and the delivery fee.
  • Food orders cannot be returned.

Non-food orders:

  • You can cancel for free as long as no courier has accepted your order.
  • If you cancel after a courier has been assigned, you will need to pay the basic delivery fee.
  • If the courier has already picked up the item or is on the way, you can ask if a return is possible.
  • In this case, you will need to pay the full cost of the item, the delivery fee, and the return fee.
  • If the item is successfully returned, the cost of the item will be refunded to you.
  • You will still be responsible for all delivery-related fees, including the original delivery and the return service.
